The MS-2002 Mouldable Optical Silicone.

Ellsworth Adhesives Europe is pleased to announce that the latest product development from Dow Corning – the MS-2002 – is now available for purchase.

The MS-2002 is a mouldable white reflector silicone targeting 98% reflectivity. The MS-2002 will assist in further boosting light output from LED devices, improving overall energy efficiency and lengthening device reliability. Thanks to its highly reflective properties, the white reflector silicone material also extends the excellent photo-thermal stability and high-mouldability that typifies Dow Corning’s award-winning optical-grade Mouldable Silicone family.

Dow Corning’s global industry director of LED Lighting, Hugo da Silva, explains the rationale of their latest development “Our advanced new Dow Corning MS-2002 Silicone extends the valuable design, processing and performance benefits of our Mouldable Silicone portfolio beyond transparent LED lens elements to include the reflective elements of LED lamp and luminaire applications. With the launch of this new product, customers can now maximize the benefits of silicone chemistry to develop more affordable LED lighting.”

Like other products in Dow Corning’s line of high-performance LED silicones, its advanced new Dow Corning MS-2002 Silicone delivers outstanding mechanical, thermal and optical stability at temperatures exceeding 150°C. That means, unlike epoxies, polycarbonate, acrylic and other conventional LED materials, Dow Corning MS-2002 Mouldable White Reflector Silicone retains superb colour, reflectance and mechanical performance over the lifetime of an LED lamp or luminaire without yellowing or physical degradation. As the market demands LED sources to deliver more intense light from comparatively smaller package sizes, these qualities are highly desirable for reflective LED materials.

With its high reflectivity and bright white colour, this new high-performance silicone product does not require the additional mixture of liquid silicone rubber or colour pigmentation.  Its extreme thermal and optical stability enables development of parts with direct contact with LED dies without air gaps between the die and optics, avoiding design limits common with organic LED materials.

Now available to order from Ellsworth Adhesives Europe, The HCT2-120 system is the latest product to be developed by Metcal. The HCT2-120 is a digital hot air pencil perfectly suited to applications using smaller components and assemblies thanks to its slim and lightweight design. As component miniaturization continues, the ergonomics of a pencil allow the user more freedom to access  and rework   components   on   the   board   without   affecting adjacent parts.

With a 120 Watt Ceramic Heater and Dual Stage Air Pump, The HCT2-120 provides the power and performance needed to deliver the right amount of thermal energy. The Microprocessor controlled closed loop feedback system allows fast heating, precise and stable temperature control. The HCT2-120 System also includes a nozzle plate holder inside the work stand with six nozzles ranging between 1.5mm and 4mm.

The HCT2-120 benefits from a universal power supply that automatically senses the input line voltage and adjusts accordingly which allows for worldwide operation without adaptors or a change in performance.

This month, Ellsworth Adhesives is featured on the front cover of FAST magazine– the UK’s only journal dedicated to the subject of fastening, bonding and assembly in manufacturing applications.

The team at FAST magazine approached us about doing the October front cover back in July and we were thrilled to accept their proposal.

Our range of dispensing equipment has been enhanced with the addition of the new Fisnar multi tasking robot model F9960N. Just launched, the F9960N Robot has been designed for safe and secure dispensing applications ranging from miniature SMT circuit boards to larger PCB’s and finished assemblies. Users of the new robot will benefit from a great flexibility thanks to its multi tasking capabilities – the F9960N system is ideal for precision form-in-place gaskets, encapsulation, coating, EMI and thermal-grease applications as well as underfill and sealing projects.

The F9960N is the first Fisnar gantry robot to be mounted within an enclosed free-standing platform. The enclosed environment provides access for fume extraction systems, safeguarding the work force and work place from potentially hazardous substances. Access to the working area is provided by an operator fail-safe, high clearance, security door, which is locked while in operation but easily accessible during programming. The F9960N system can be integrated within a conveyor dependent in-line manufacturing environment or installed as a stand-alone module for independent working.

The F9960N is easy to use – programming a dispense path with unique characteristics, including continuous path and point-to-point routing, is quickly achieved using the interactive 178mm touch-screen display supplied with the system. Other features include software nozzle/tip change alignment routine for quick and automatic program change offsets and step-and-repeat functions for quick programming of multiple and identical objects.
